Optima was founded in 2017, it is located in Ulm (Baden-Württemberg, Germany), which is the hometown of Einstein.  With its advantageous geographic position Ulm links the states Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria which are the two economically strongest states in Germany.  Many famous German companies such as Daimler, BMW, Audi, Bosch, Siemens, Schaeffler, Infineon, SAP etc. have their headquarters in these two states.

In the last decades, as the world’s major economies have increasingly demanded environmental protection and the urgent need to transform from traditional energy sources to renewable energy structures, electrochemical energy storage and power generation technologies are attracting more and more attention.
